Heroes are always ready with a solution. They think on their feet and are prepared for any situation.

Dorris Huff comes to school prepared for anything. She is amazing at adapting to any problem that may occur during the day. She is patient, kind, and compassionate toward all of our students and staff. Her love of people shines through her every action, and it is her generous spirit that serves as a spectacular reminder of the Notre Dame Mission. With a cheerful heart, she never hesitates to volunteer for extra service or to help out those less fortunate in the community. Not only is Dorris a wonderful teacher, but she represents her faith through her words and deeds. She is a model of service and kindness and a true Notre Dame Hero.

Heroes are listeners. They respond well to input and use it to better not only themselves, but those around them. They are those who treat criticism as sources for new ideas.

Newton Buliva is always smiling. His presence exudes a quiet, confident joy that easily fills the halls of The Notre Dame School. Our students love and respect Newton for his knowledge and teaching ability. He is the consummate job coach, patient, understanding, and analytical. With a wealth of experience, Newton instructs his students with the future in constant focus. He preaches independence and self-determination. A kind and giving man, Newton represents Notre Dame and is a true Notre Dame Hero.

Heroes possess the ability to energize those around them with a zest for life. They are driven by creative and new ideas and take great delight in sharing their ideas with those around them.

Mary Whirley has been a whirlwind of new ideas and creative energy since becoming a part of the Notre Dame family. Her brilliant ideas have been not only been massive successes in her own classroom, but have been adapted and used by many other teachers. Despite having such innovation, she is willing to learn and always interested in the ideas of others. Whether it is teaching reading, demonstrating exercises in health class, or laying out another awesome yearbook, Mary has all of the qualities of a Notre Dame Hero.
