Notre Dame Heroes #14

Heroes create a sense of literacy and a lifelong love of reading in those around them. It is their enthusiasm for the printed word which creates a world of adventure through the printed word.

Marilyn Burns has ably led the Notre Dame Library into a sea change of both content and space. She has worked to catalogue the books and updated the technology in the library to keep it current with our ever-changing world. Students enter the library with a sense of wonder and take great joy in selecting new books. Marilyn provides them with stories that make them laugh and smile. Seeing her excitement encourages them to seek out books that are not only old favorites, but also new books with big ideas and bold expressions. Marilyn’s work during the annual school book fair not only builds literacy but also raises money to help support Notre Dame. These are the skills of a true Notre Dame Hero.
